With the rapid growth in the area of Embedded and VLSI Design
in India, there is a growing demand for industry ready engineers.
Universities have an excellent track record of producing well educated
engineers in significant numbers. However the lack of sufficient number
of graduates trained on the specific needs of the Embedded and VLSI industry has
resulted in a dearth of qualified engineers. Recognizing this
challenge, a number of initiatives have been instituted by the
government and by educational institutions. These initiatives include
post-graduate programs and research grants to accelerate academic work
in VLSI. While these initiatives will help build expertise, they do not
address the immediate need for new college students entering the job
market to have "domain expertise" in Embedded and VLSI design.
The RV-VLSI Design Center addresses this "immediate need" by offering a
hands-on approach to gaining expertise in areas pertaining to Embedded and VLSI

to develop the requisite skills and expertise in VLSI.
