It’s good to be back in India after a decade. It gives me great pleasure to be part of the RV group of institutions. I am very excited to draw upon my 16 years of VLSI industry experience to impart, quality industry relevant programs in VLSI design.
The economy is booming, opening up many job avenues. Quality of life is improving, living standards are going up and jobs are plentiful in all sectors. This is a positive development which will benefit both students and the industry. In this day and age it is less likely that students will choose to work for any company that comes their way. Students and their advisors now have the task of choosing a career which is fun, rewarding and matches one’s interest.
Students are aware of jobs in the IT sector and take advantage of securing an offer during the campus placement and continue to seek out their “dream job”. If you are a student from electronics or related discipline, and software jobs do not interest you, you are in luck.
“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life!” said Confucius.
The VLSI industry is booming. The executive council of India Semiconductor Association (ISA), an industry body which represents the interests of VLSI companies has identified addressing the talent crunch top on its agenda. Welcome news for students looking to pursue VLSI careers.
VLSI chips are implemented using ASIC-COT, custom design or FPGA methodologies. A majority of institutions (and private training providers) have access to FPGA kits and tools. FPGA flow training is offered as part of the regular curriculum. Training in ASIC and custom design is normally not part of most UG or PG programs. Industry relevant VLSI training requires industry standard tools and a relevant curriculum which incorporates adequate hands on training, from an ASIC and/or custom design perspective.
The primary mission of RV-VLSI is to address the need of employable talent in these areas.
We offer programs which complement student’s knowledge, with skills relevant to the industry by imparting quality VLSI training in the areas of ASIC design covering the entire design cycle, from RTL to GDS. RTL Verification, Design Synthesis, DFT, Static Timing Analysis, Formal Verification, Automatic Place and route, CTS, physical verification and parasitic extraction, using industry standard EDA tools from Synopsys, Cadence and Mentor Graphics computing technology from SUN Microsystems, Inc and Foundry IP from Jazz Semiconductor, USA. We believe we have recreated an industry in our campus with an infrastructure second to none, facilitating a quality learning environment.
We are very fortunate to have collaborations with our valued EDA, technology and foundry partners. Our close association with industry professionals, and friends of RV-VLSI, whose advice, valuable time preparing course materials, participation in guest lectures and design reviews is much appreciated. In my opinion our collaborations with industry leaders and close working relationships with industry professionals is the differentiator in providing quality VLSI training as per industry expectations.
Have a nice day.
