- I am a parent and know about software IT field. Is VLSI Different?
Yes, VLSI is different from IT Software. VLSI is an Acronym for VERY LARGE SCALE INTEGRATION, used to describe an very large integrated circuit, which has millions or billions of transistors. Engineers from EC/Telecomm/EE/IT/CSc/IS are best suited and sought after by VLSI companies for this specialized field.
- What are the job prospects in VLSI?
VLSI related business activities are diverse. There are about 130 registered VLSI companies with Indian Semiconductor Association (ISA). VLSI jobs span across many domains as follows: ASIC Front End, ASIC Back End, RTL Verification, Analog Design, Custom Mask Layout, FPGA Design, CAD Engineering, Technical Sales and Marketing positions at EDA & product companies. Engineers straight out of colleges are well educated and must complement their knowledge with skills relevant to these industries. At RV-VLSI our programs have been designed to equip you with the right skill required for the industry.
- What does the future hold for VLSI Engineers?

- What are the typical VLSI Salaries?
VLSI jobs are not for everyone. Engineers with the right aptitude and training are the right fit for the industry. Obviously one can expect a premium factored into the salaries for engineers opting VLSI Careers. In general you can expect a compelling differential compared to most IT industry offers. In some sense people who choose VLSI careers are at an advantage, from a job satisfaction and finance point of view from day one compared to their peers who opted for IT jobs at the campus.
- What are the different areas of specialization in VLSI, which one has more scope and demand?
VLSI specializations are broadly classified into ASIC, FPGA, custom analog & digital. All specializations have a good scope and demand for well educated & trained engineers. Please attend our Free Info Session conducted every Saturday at our Institute to get a first hand idea of what it takes to be a VLSI Specialist & how RV-VLSI can benefit you.
- Are all VLSI companies the same
No, all VLSI companies are not the same. VLSI companies are divided into Product, Service and EDA Companies Each of these companies offer a unique set of challenges and learning experience. Our training courses are designed to address the requirements of all these industry segments.
- Do you offer courses that will benefit my BE, ME project?
Yes, our advanced training courses will help you with your BE, ME projects. We do have ME students enrolled in our Diploma program and working on their projects right after the training using commercial grade industry EDA tools from Synopsys, Cadence and Mentor Graphics. All our courses are delivered in an industry like atmosphere. Please attend our Free Info Session conducted every Saturday at our Institute to know more about our facility and talk to advisors on how RV-VLSI can benefit you..
- Do you offer part time courses?
Yes, our short module programs are part time courses. Working professionals looking to enhance specific domain knowledge or looking for a lateral change in the industry & students in final year BE/ME are most benefited by our part time courses. Our part time courses are designed in a way where major portion of the time is spent gaining hands on experience using EDA tools to solve problems. Please visit our program offerings page for details and drop by for a Free Info Session .
- I have experience in software with electronics background, is a career switch a good idea now?

- How can we identify quality training providers?
The hallmark of any quality training is its course contents, execution and relevance across domains. VLSI design is not just FPGA and embedded system or DSP design. In our opinion many training providers are offering “VLSI training” in just a few areas and are barely scratching the surface.
At RV-VLSI we strive to differentiate ourselves by providing quality focused VLSI Training which can be applied across different design methodologies and domains. Our collaborations with the VLSI industry helps us to anticipate the VLSI industry needs and deliver quality VLSI training.
- Why don't you offer training in Analog design?
While we don't offer basic training at this time, we are planning to offer advanced Analog training conducted by well known experts shortly to experienced engineers.
How do I know if I will like this field?
We recommend you attend our Free Info Session conducted every Saturday to get an idea on what VLSI careers are like and what the VLSI industry is all about. Everyone is different and one size seldom fits all. We also recommend you participate in our comprehensive analysis and career counseling session. Upon completion we will suggest if VLSI is right for you and which course and domain best suites you. This will help you take an educated decision.
